Programme Overview
The programme is organised around three modules (40 hours each) that cover:
BIM Fundamentals: understand the concept and local standards of BIM, implemented through BIM software including Revit, and apply advanced techniques on precedent case studies and within the context of the construction industry
BIM and Collaboration: building upon previously attained knowledge, you will progress to applying BIM on complex geometry and generative building form, in alignment with Mechanical Engineering and Plumbing (MEP) standards, from modelling through design stage
BIM Management: you will explore collaborative BIM working platform through analysing multi-disciplinary projects, manipulate building modules across architecture, structural engineering and building services, and apply modelling skills in a collaborative manner; you will also put Revit 4D, 5D and 6D skills into practice on all stages of a construction project
Programme Objectives
- nurture the understanding of Building Information Modelling (BIM) theory, implementation and software related to the industry and its various practices;
- equip learners with essential knowledge, competence and understanding of the various practices and stages of BIM within the industry, including various methodologies of which, how, and when to use certain BIM techniques at the appropriate time; and
- provide learners with industry/profession-specific knowledge through real life case studies and hands-on experience with already built, constructed and studied building and facilities.
Highlights
Why BIM?
- BIM has the potential to save time, budget and resources in any project enabling you to focus on what’s important.
- BIM makes greener buildings, reducing the carbon footprint and enhancing sustainability practices such as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM).
- BIM enables collaboration between all the stakeholders and paths the way to 4D, 5D and 6D.
Course Strength
- Professional Diploma in Building Information Modelling is recognised under the Qualifications Framework (QF): QF level 4, QR Registration No.: 19/001114/L4, Validity Period: 01/09/2019 to 31/08/2021. It is widely recognized by HK Government and employers.
- Vplus Creative Industries Government Subsidy is available.
- Successful applicant can claim 60% of the course fee paid up to a max of HK$36,000.
- Collaborated with International BIM expert while supported by Professional Associations
- Teaching team is formed by professionals (Certified Revit Trainers and HKIBIM professionals) with over 10 years of practical BIM experience from the industry
- Suitable for those learners who are English speaking professionals
- Small class size for interactive teaching
Expected Learning Outcome
On completion of the course, learners are expected to be able to:
- Apply the theory of Building Information Modelling (BIM) implementation such as Revit and Navisworks tools and its benefits over traditional methods and workflows;
- Apply advanced techniques of using BIM to produce models in different disciplines, including architecture, structure and building services; and
- Interpret the energy analysis and uses in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) through real-life case studies that apply to local Hong Kong projects.
