Organized by HKDI and IVE (Lee Wai Lee), Opening Ceremony cum New Fashion Force has grandly kicked off the Emerging Design Talents 2017 yesterday. As part of VTC’s 35th anniversary celebration, exhibitions and performances are held at the campus of HKDI & IVE (LWL) from now to 25 June. All exhibitions, shows and events are free and open to the general public.

Eye-catching Fashion Show Enlightened the Night

The Emerging Design Talents 2017 Opening cum New Fashion Force was held successfully last night. Professor Eric Yim, Deputy Chairman of VTC, said that as the largest cradle of creative talents, HKDI embraces the mission to make a vital contribution to Hong Kong’s mounting role as a center of excellence by cultivating new talents for the evolving creative industries, enhancing the competitiveness of Hong Kong. Some design works adopting new technology were on display. INTRUSION, a game created by four graduates of the Higher Diploma in Transmedia, incorporates VR technology and 360 degree video shooting and attracted a lot of audiences to take a glimpse of this eyes-opening experience.

The highlight event, New Fashion Force, exhibited 30 gorgeous works designed by this year’s Fashion Design graduates. This catwalk show displayed fashion collections utilising pioneering technology, creating a second-to-none fashion show. Out of all the outstanding works, Ho Yu On won the Overall Winner Award with her collection “Hook The Hope”, bringing her a great leap on her way to become a professional fashion designer.

More of Diversified Exhibitions and Performances to come!
Various creative exhibition and shows share the fruits of the fresh graduates of different design departments. This exhibition showcases works created by students of different programmes, including Visual Art and Communication, Transmedia, Film and Television, Visual Communication, Fashion Design, Architectural Design, Furniture and Lifestyle Product Design, Agricultural Design, Interior Design and Information Technology etc.

The fabulous HKDI Image Show will be held on 19 June. Featuring a series of wearable artworks matched with revolutionary make-up styling, hair styling, fashion styling and stage costume with stunning effect, The Revolutionary Image of the New Generation displays multiple fresh and unique portrayals to its audiences. This show will showcase a brand new sight in image design for Fashion, Movie and Performing Arts. Local fashion icon, Hilary Tsui, and a famous Hong Kong supermodel, Janet Ma, will be two of the judges, giving their support to the new talents.

The Heroic Ones Film Show 2017 – Star Night Debut will then be held on 20 June. The event presents six remarkable works selected from graduation projects to guests of the night, including renowned professionals from film, broadcasting and creative industries. The Star Night provides a platform for Film and TV graduates to showcase their uniqueness, creativity and passion at their best.

Annual musical event Music in Motion 2017, which will be held on 23 June, is the flagship event of the year in which students of Higher Diploma in Digital Music and Media and Coventry University - BSc. (Hons) Music Technology will present their originally composed songs with live music performance. Songs are in diverse genres that best fit the wide-ranging tastes of music lovers. The line-up this year is super outstanding, including local independent band Sugar Bro, Lit Lo@NiLiu, Cynthia Wong and Coey Yeung, who all were graduated from the same programme before. The show will bring you to a remarkable musical night in town!
