Highlights

An information and interface design programme that explores various dimensions of Information and Interface Design. This programme would keep you abreast of the latest trends and needs of the information design industry, with specific focus on user-centred infographic storytelling and data visualisation.

Intended Learning Outcomes

On completion of the Professional Certificate in Information and Interface Design, learners are expected to be able to:

  • Organize information creatively in a user-friendly format with appropriate classification;
  • Integrate the principles of user-centered design processes and practical techniques for effective user interface design; and
  • Conduct effective user testing to identify user’s needs and desires.

Lecturer: Han Huang

Han Huang currently works as a digital graphic designer for the South China Morning Post, Hong Kong’s premier English language newspaper. She has been covering a range of topics in China and Asia with a combination of data visualisations, maps and other multimedia elements. Before joining SCMP in 2019, she was a Graphic Journalist and Data Visualization Developer at Reuters News Agency in Singapore and New York, where she developed interactive visuals as well as static graphics on current events and financial markets.  

During the past few years, her works have been recognised with multiple international awards including Malofiej Infographic Awards, SND Best of Design, SOPA and Kantar Information is beautiful.

Entry Requirements

Basic Qualification
(a)
    - Five HKDSE subjects at Level 2 or above, including English and Chinese Languages, or equivalent; or
    - Five HKCEE subjects at Grade E / Level 2 or above, including English and Chinese Languages, or equivalent; or
    - Completion of a QF Level 3 programme that is deemed acceptable to the respective Programme Board; or
    - Relevant RPL qualification(s) at QF Level 3 or above AND a pass in an entrance assessment, which can be either oral
      or written; or
    - Other relevant verifiable prior learning and/or work experience that is/are deemed appropriate by respective
      Programme Board AND a pass in an entrance assessment, which can be either oral or written.

(b) Applicants are required to have at least 1 year relevant working experience.
(c) Basic knowledge of graphic communication is preferred.
(d) An interview and/or portfolio review may also be required on need basis.

Mature Applicants
Mature applicants, i.e. those aged 21 or above with at least two years’ relevant working experience, can be admitted. Where appropriate, the applicant may be required to pass an entrance assessment, which can be in an oral and/or written form.
