Strengths

Objectives

• explore idea development through creative process;
• interpret and describe creative ideas, themes, values that consist of literary texts; and
• improve basic writing mechanics skill and apply creative writing skills in online platform.

Intended Learning Outcomes

On completion of Certificate in Creative Writing for Online Media, learners are expected to be able to:

• generate new ideas by employing a wide range of creative tools to explore yourself and surrounding world;
• produce short story scenes that include use of imagery, characterization, and elements of plot development; and
• create a piece of original writing for publishing on online sharing platforms by applying a range of creative writing skill.

Lecturer: Leung Kin-Pong

Graduated from the Film and Television School of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, majoring in directing. Recent Director Works included <Alpha Maria> TV series, "Outstanding Chinese Writers" Documentary in RTHK. Short Films <Little by Little> has won the Best Short Film Award at the Mexican World Short Film Festival. <Ripple> has won the Best screenwriter award in Hong Kong's Fresh Wave Short Film Festival. 

Kin-Pong is currently the Artistic Director of Electric Diamond Production, a freelance director and screenwriter, and also the Lecturer of Department of Digital Media at the Hong Kong Design Institute.

Entry Requirements

Basic Qualification
(a) 

• Five HKDSE subjects at Level 2 or above, including English and Chinese Languages, or equivalent; or
• Five HKCEE subjects at Grade E / Level 2 or above, including English and Chinese Languages, or equivalent; or
• Completion of a QF Level 2 programme that is deemed acceptable to the respective Programme Board; or
• Relevant RPL qualification(s) at QF Level 2 or above AND a pass in an entrance assessment, which can be either oral or written; or
• Other relevant verifiable prior learning and/or work experience that is/are deemed appropriate by respective Programme Board AND a pass in an entrance assessment, which can be either oral or written.

(b) Applicants are required to have at least 1-year working experience.
(c) An interview may also be required on need basis.
(d) Applicant must fluent in written Chinese and spoken Cantonese.

Mature Applicants 
Mature applicants, i.e. those aged 21 or above with at least two years’ relevant working experience, may be admitted.  Where appropriate, the applicant may be required to pass an entrance assessment, which can be in an oral and/or written form.
