Human beings and nature are closely related, in life and in death. The design philosophy of Columbarium for storing funeral ashes is to use natural elements to make people feel that the spirits of their departed loved ones will always be with them, in the same way that nature is always with us. Bamboo is adopted because it is similar to wood but is better suited for use in places with high humidity. There are four main elements: a stele, the ashes, cobblestones and windows. Stele is made from a combination of large and small cubes with the names of the deceased on commemorative stone tablets. Ashes are made of frosted glass in three parts with the middle part full of ash and light, and are located at different levels according to age. Cobblestones are mede of harder pebbles, slowing down people when walking to the ashes so to prepare them to commemorate their loved ones. There are a pattern of bamboo and weathered steel on windows while an alloy that forms surface rust and does not require painting, throwing shadows on the windows.
