HKDI Design Programme Live

Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) Design Programme Live will take place in June, to share design programme information with prospective students, with topics including university degree pathways and career prospects in the industry.

Our lecturers will conduct the interactive sessions, each lasting about 45 minutes. Each session will be tailored according to the specific design discipline, with content ranging from an introduction of academic programmes by HKDI lecturers, to sharing by current students on campus life and learning experience. Each session will be concluded by a Q&A.

Department of Digital Media

The Department of Digital Media (DDM) is a creative, dynamic and technologically advanced environment for learning. Multiple aspects of creative production in digital media are covered, including animation, film and television production, interactive media, music and audio technology, photography, web and app development, visual effects and storytelling in a transmedia context. Students develop communication and technical skills through a hands-on learning experience, with access to relevant state-of-the-art technology that enables them to become commercially viable and innovative designers.

15/6 (Mon) 17:00-18:00
Department of Communication Design

Studies in the Department of Communication Design (DCD) prepare graduates to become job- and future-ready professionals who are versed in using visual language to communicate purposefully, strategically as well as creatively. We examine how words and images are manifested in static, dynamic, interactive, as well as spatial environments. We explore how visual representations can be used to express, differentiate, inform, and persuade. A people-centred, experience-based approach underpins all programmes, where methods are applied to gather insights on users, markets, and other contextual factors that enable students to make informed design decisions. We encourage students to develop their personal vision and approach to the subject. We challenge students to ask critical questions on how traditional and emerging technology mediate communication in contemporary society between originators, distributors and consumers of content, responding innovatively to the ever-changing landscape of the communication design profession and pushing its boundaries.
