Soft Launch - CDSS X Popcorn


CDSS aims to tie in latest technology and industry updates, pioneer and test disruptive business solutions with a focus on experimental design incubation. The soft opening of CDSS was held in May 2019 in collaboration with the POPCORN General Store, which has drawn for 3500 visitors to the event. HKDI students studying Higher Diploma in Fashion Branding and Buying and Higher Diploma in Fashion Media Design were invited to participate in a series of competitions on Fashion Visual Merchandising, Fashion Promotional Video, and Fashion Styling & Photography for two popular street fashion brands under POPCORN General Store, namely, RipNDip and Chinatown Market.

Promoting the communication in new design motivation within the industry and the school.

Popcorn General Store has always been committed to opening up new thinking, and constantly providing surprising consumption experiences. Regarding of the development of HKDI’s new platform, multiple fashion brands under the banner of POPCORN will be working with CDSS on interdisciplinary and cross-cutting projects. From the new strategy of e-commerce, fashion retail new technology, creative talent training and big data analysis and other aspects of applied research, to open up immeasurable creativity.

Starting up in this CDSS x POPCORN collaboration is a series of competition, including fashion visual merchandising, fashion promotional video and fashion styling and photography, the participants are HKDI students studying in Higher Diploma in Fashion Branding and Buying, and Higher Diploma in Fashion Media Design. They create by using two unique brands under POPCORN, RipNDip and Chinatown Market, promoting the brands with a younger perspective, igniting unpredictable sparks.
