“Big Wasters, Big Savers” – kids’ Greenway Achievement Ceremony cum Green Day Community Event


With the funding support from the Environment and Conservation Fund (ECF) and the Environmental Campaign Committee (ECC), the Child Education Centre for Teaching and Learning (CECTL) from the Department of Childcare, Elderly and Community Services of the Hong Kong Institution of Vocation Education (Sha Tin) is implementing the “Kids’ Greenway” project with 150 pre-primary schools. The main aim of this project is to enhance children’s awareness and knowledge towards waste reduction. The objectives of this event are to promote the concepts of reduce, reuse, and recycling and the “Use less, Waste less” culture to young children and all members of the community and around the world.

In the event, 60 game booths with demonstration of green activities will be set up to promote the ‘Use less, waste less’ concept to the community members through games and activities. 40 of 150 participating schools, together with 53 pilot schools were joint the booth designs in accordance with the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle. 20 government departments, organisations in the community or green groups will be invited to join the booth design.

CIMT, HKDI joint the event as one of the game booth, an upcycle weaving lamp was designed to engage kids’ interest on upcycle of wasted fabrics and clothing.
