This programme is founded on the belief that students will benefit from specialist engagement with practice from a range of disciplines that exist within illustration commercial practice. This experience is supported by Special Interest Groups of students with complementary interests and aspirations in design, publishing, including children’s books and graphic novels, editorial, lifestyle, advertising and issue based communication. Exploring how illustration is applied to a range of contexts and outcomes, including screen, print and merchandising.

We encourage an active engagement with all aspects of subject practice, including an understanding of the theoretical and philosophical framework of the subject and an ability to apply it creatively to practical outcomes. The learning experience includes lectures, seminars, live projects, peer and group learning. This fully supports directed study and the development of individual practice. This is further enhanced by direct links via the University’s Virtual Learning Environment, with UK students, working on the same modules.
