HKDI courses are carefully devised to meet the needs of the design profession. Creative studio projects and skill learning, though essential, are no substitute for experience. For this reason, the HKDI partners with host companies to provide workplace experience for students in preparation for employment.

Students require opportunities to put what they have learnt into practice. Through this, students can experience the pace, discipline and atmosphere of an industry, and gain insight into the operational and managerial aspects of the host company. Companies can also identify young designers who may be suitable for future employment.
